Single-PLY Membrane

Flexible Protection Designed For Today’s Commercial Buildings.

Single-ply roofing systems are built around one strong, durable membrane that protects your building from the elements. Twin City Roofing installs three trusted single-ply options: EPDM, TPO, and PVC. Each option is reliable and can be matched to different building types, uses, and budgets. Our role is to explain the differences and help you choose what’s right for your building now and long term.

EPDM - (Rubber Roofing)

EPDM is the most commonly used single-ply system and is often called rubber roofing. It handles extreme temperature changes well and stays flexible as the roof expands and contracts through the seasons. That flexibility makes it a dependable choice for many commercial buildings.

TPO - Thermoplastic Olefin

TPO is a grease-resistant membrane with heat-welded seams that help keep water out. It is often installed as a white roof, which reflects sunlight and helps reduce heat buildup. TPO is a good option for buildings focused on energy efficiency.

PVC - Polyvinyl Chloride

PVC is a heat-welded membrane designed to stand up to grease, oils, and chemicals. Because of that added resistance, it is commonly used on restaurants and buildings with tougher rooftop conditions. It offers strong, long-lasting performance in demanding environments.

Installation Options

Single-ply roofing systems can be installed in a few different ways, depending on your building and roof structure:

  • Fully adhered: The membrane is bonded to the substrate for a secure fit
  • Mechanically fastened: The membrane is secured at the seams
  • Ballasted: The system is held in place with a layer of gravel for weight and protection
Ballasted installation is available for rubber roofing systems only.
